Bangalore: With the launch of its new technology for greener
datacenters, Fujitsu Laboratories of Europe, a subsidiary of technology
giant Fujitsu has extended its green datacenter strategy. The company's
Total CO2 and Value Analysis solution, launched at the European
Technology Forum, has been designed in collaboration with UK
government-backed advisory body, the Carbon Trust.
According to Fujitsu, the technology that was based on a simulator was
built with support from the Carbon Trust and it includes software,
delivered services and physical infrastructure to enable a 'holistic
analysis' of energy use and carbon emissions. "The result is a new
toolset that enables us to improve energy efficiency and carbon
footprints within existing datacenters based on a quantitative
understanding of the complexities of datacenter infrastructures and
their operation," said Fumihiro Maruyama, Managing Director of Fujitsu
Laboratories of Europe.
The company said that the tool could be used to optimize existing
datacenters, identify the most energy-efficient equipments, estimate
return on investment for new datacenters and many other applications.
"These are exciting developments that will have a major impact on our
ability to transform datacenter operations, and realize the green
datacenter of the future," added Maruyama. The Total CO2 and Value
Analysis is scheduled to be deployed in trials initially at Fujitsu's
datacenters during 2010.
